What's Best For Your Cleaning Business - Hiring Subcontractors Vs Employees

When you have a cleaning business, one of the hard decisions that need's to be made is whether you should be hiring subcontractors or employees. There are differences in both that are important to know about to help you make the decision. There are also some important things to consider when trying to decide. This article is going to explain the differences and tell you the things to consider so you can make the most informed decision possible.

Let's start with employees. Everyone knows what an employee is and has more than likely been one at one time or another in their life. Lots of people still are employees. An employee is known as a person you hire to work under you in your cleaning business.

With an employee, you need to provide them with all the supplies needed to do their job. You also need to train them on certain aspects of the job. Along with many other things that you need to provide or help them with, which means that you have to tell them what to do in order for it to get done.

With a subcontractor, you don't tell them what to do because they are already trained and know what to do. Instead, you hire them for a specific job and leave them to it. They don't need you looking over their shoulder.

This could be a good thing for your cleaning business because it leaves you free to do your work, but it can also be a different because subcontractors don't work for you, so they don't follow your schedule. The job will be completed, just not always when you want it to be done, unless you have made sure that all of your I's are dotted and your t's are crossed.

Another difference between an employee and a subcontractor is that the IRS has different forms and requirements for each. Before hiring a subcontractor, you have to check with the IRS to be sure you are doing it right on your accounts. Otherwise, you may find at a future date that they are saying you owe them money for not listing it right. A subcontractor can't be listed as an employee because there is a big difference, especially according to the IRS.

When trying to decide if you should hire subcontractors vs. employees for your cleaning business, always take all of these things into careful consideration. The more you can learn about both, the easier your decision will be. Taking your time and doing some research will also help you be sure that you are making the right business decision.
